On Monday 26th June 2017. We performed a recital at St James' Church Piccadilly as part of the London International A Capella Choral Competition.

The London International Festival is a fantastic competition set up in 2014 by Peter Phillips, Director of The Tallis Scholars, to bring choirs together from around the world to London to learn, listen and most importantly, compete with other choirs! Our friends, Sansara, won the competition in 2015 and some of our other friends, The Fisher Consort, were competing this year.

We however, were only performing a recital, not competing, having been called in to fill a recital slot when another international choir had to sadly drop out. We performed a similar programme to the one we sang a few days before at The Voices of London Festival. LIACCC has a focus on Arvo Pärt's music this year so we added his piece, Bogoroditse Djevo, to our programme.

It was a great event and we had our biggest audience to date - 99 people counted by the ushers! It was lovely to see familiar faces in the audience, including a few National Youth Choir Alumni, Tim Reader from Epiphoni Consort and various friends and family of the choir. The Father of one our basses, David Valsamidis, commented that David had sung the highest soprano part in the Pärt piece as a treble and now here he was singing the lowest part!

Icosa would really like to thank LIACCC for asking us to fill in, especially at such short notice! We would really like to perform at the competition soon. Having seen the quality of the choirs performing, we will have to do a lot of intense work to sing at the right standard. For now, we will continue to perform concerts and compositions to the highest quality we can.
